Office of Information Technology is committed to providing University employees with a broad range of training opportunities.  We recognize that training programs and professional development can help an employee increase their effectiveness and refine their job skills.  Listed below are the classes we offer to the University community.

Complete these required steps before class:


1. Register for class here (the OIT Training website.)

2. Follow the steps in this document to use Teams for this class and join the Knowledge Services OIT Online Training Team.

  • Sitecore trainers cannot troubleshoot Teams issues.
  • If you do not join the Team, you will not have a Chat button.
  • You must join the Team to access the training guide.

3. Find the Training Guide 2021 in the Files tab of the Sitecore channel. 

  • Review all contents of the folder.
  • Print out the training guide to use during class.

4. The class will be listed in the Posts tab of the Sitecore channel. 

  • Look for the purple "Join" button next to the class name.
  • Join the class at the scheduled time.

5. Request access to Sitecore (Prod) at the appropriate step during your Migration.

  • Please do not request access if there is not a site already set up for your group in Sitecore (Prod). Requests for sites that do not yet exist will be declined because there is no site to which we can grant access.
  • Completion of a live training session is required for access to Sitecore.  Watching a recording is not a substitute for attending a live session.  If you are unable to stay for the duration of the training, please cancel and register for another session.

6. Complete all required Web Modernization trainings.

 

 

Please be aware if the class attendance is less than 3 people, the class will be rescheduled.

Academic advisors, faculty and staff have many tools to use when interacting with students on a day-to-day basis. One of the most important tools is the MyMav system - UTA's Student Information System. MyMav is a PeopleSoft product.

In this training, you will learn:

  • How to sign in to the MyMav system
  • How to navigate the Main Menu/Navigator, which are comprised of Main folders and Sub-folders that create the MyMav system. This will allow you to:
    • access a student's academic record (view enrollment, GPA and demographic information)
    • add/drop/swap courses
    • access notes history
    • change a student's major
    • conduct class searches
    • document individual or group notes
    • send individual or group emails
    • add documents to the student record, and
    • run MAP reports (degree audit) and unofficial transcripts.

Cascade 8 launched on October 4th.  In this class, we will review the new interface to help you manage the content on your website.

You will learn how to:

  • Use new templates to add and copy pages
  • Add images and banners
  • Update exsisting content

To Access Training:

Log in To Teams

Once you have the Teams app open, click the “Teams” Tab in the navigation pane at the left.

Once you have the Teams app open, click the “Teams” Tab in the navigation pane at the left.

To join your class Team, click the “Join a Team with a Code” option and enter the code:

Click the “Join Team” buttonto join our class.

Select the corresponding channel to the class name to view the session.

Before being able to join the online class, a few steps may need to be taken.

1. Please go to myapps.uta.edu .
2. Click on the Teams icon.
3. Click on your initials in the upper right hand corner.
4. Select the "Download the desktop app." Complete the process to downlaod the app to your device.

2. Click the "Download Teams on Your Device" link. 
3. Complete the process to download the app to your device.

Prerequisite

Participants must successfully complete The Fundamentals of Process Improvement course, including the homework assignments.

Audience 

UTA employees interested in applying process improvement techniques to their daily work. 

Description 

The course consists of sessions held in October, November, and December.  The weekly exercises walk you through application of the steps to work a project.  Participants will learn how to use tools to visualize and systematically analyze processes at UTA.  Additional work sessions scheduled on Thursday and Friday each week to coach participants on their exercises. 

The purpose of this training is to: 

  1. Educate employees on process improvement methodology and how campus can utilize the tools to achieve university initiatives. 

  1. Equip employees with a variety of process improvement tools to use in their daily work. 

Time Commitment: 

Students need to commit 3 to 4 hours each week (1.5 hours for class time and up to another 2.5 hours to complete the exercise for the week).  Exercises need to be completed prior to the next week’s session. One hour work-group sessions will be offered each Thursday and Friday. Students may attend these sessions to ask questions and collaborate as they work through their weekly assignment.
