Join the UTA Planetarium on Saturday, August 29 at 3 p.m. as we celebrate the upcoming launch of the Roman Space Telescope with a special planetarium show exploring this exciting new chapter in space science. Often described as a wide-field complement to Hubble, Roman will have a field of view at least 100 times larger than Hubble’s, allowing it to survey enormous regions of the sky up to 1,000 times faster while maintaining comparable sensitivity and infrared resolution. This remarkable combination of speed and scope will give astronomers an unprecedented view of the cosmos. Roman will observe billions of cosmic objects, helping scientists investigate how planets, stars, and galaxies form and evolve over time. Its innovative technologies and wide-ranging capabilities will make it a true multipurpose observatory, providing a sweeping view of the universe while helping answer some of the most fundamental questions in astrophysics: How did the universe evolve into the cosmos we see today?
